Scrapbooking with Aunt Alma (94 yrs old)

This past Sunday my hubby and I visited my great-Aunt Alma (my paternal grandmother's sister). Usually my father (77 yrs old) and I visit Aunt Alma on the 1st Saturday of every month to identify old photos for heritage scrapbooks I'm making. But Daddy wasn't feeling well this weekend so my hubby went to visit Aunt Alma with me instead.
Aunt Alma
My grandmother was the original family historian and made dozens of scrapbooks, that I am now trying to save with archival materials. Granny scrapbooked all the photos, but she didn't write much info on the backs or in her books. So we are trying to fix all the photos now while Aunt Alma can help us.
LuLu (me)
At Aunt Alma's house we look through old photos. Aunt Alma identifies the people that she can, with my help and (usually) my father's help. Then I write down the info, sort the photos into piles by location or event, and store them in accordion file folders until I get a chance to crop and mat them.
We all have a great time with the old photos! It's so interesting to see all the old places and how folks looked long ago. I've already made 5 scrapbook albums (a LOT of work) and taken them to our family's annual reunion for the past 2 years. They were a huge hit - even with the little kids!
Handsome Hubbie
My hubbie was the 'official photographer' on Sunday.

I zipped over here from your comment on Diane's blog.

You are so fortunate to have such wonderful family resources. We inherited tons of photos from my hubbie's family but noone knows who they are. While that means extra art supplies for me, the scrapbooks would be soooooooooo much better. Feel free to share some pictures of the finished pages!

Thanks for visiting, Sherry!

I inherited a ton of photos from my hubbie's folks, too. My hubbie's 'Through The Years' album is ridicululously huge - about 3 inches thick. I'm so excessive when it comes to scrapbooking.

I'll post some layouts - eventually...

Meanwhile, please stop back often!

Peace,
LuLu
