'WOYWW 10/10/2012 - Let The Art Begin - and Giveaway coming soon!"

by Mary Lou 'LuLu' Haynes

Howdy and Welcome,

For WOYWW this week, I've actually tidied up my table in the craft studio.A rare event. Here are a few views is a view with daylight streaming in. I love to work in this studio when it's sunny outside. But I'm not a morning person - more of a night owl. So usually I'm playing in here when it's pitch black. Now that it's tidy, I'm ready to let the art begin!

On our recent road trip during my birthday week, I finished writing in my travel journal. So I'm prepping this next travel journal that's on the table. Just a couple tasks and it will be finished.

Most of my travel journals are altered books that I made from old Golden children's books. I prefer to use Golden books which are nice and skinny to fit in the side of my train case, which I take on every trip. Yes, I travel 'heavy'. But I AM improving. On our last trip I only took 3 bags - which is a first for me!

Also on my table are a few other odds and ends, bits and bobs - a paper flower, stack of business cards in a zip top bag, the foam tip that came off of a stamping stylus, and some paper notes that need sorting.

YOUR TURN
Do you write in a travel journal when you take a trip? What type of journal do you use? Is it an altered book? Or a regular store bought journal?

Would love for you to comment on this post - or any of my other posts.
Thanks for stopping by and please come back soon. Now that summer is over, I'll be doing a GIVEAWAY - it's my 3rd Blogoversary time!

Peace,
LuLu

hi LuLu... looking busy there and what a load of concentrated but neat stash that I'd love to get into.
thanks for calling in to me and a big NOPE we DON'T have Michaels over here... I wish we did as I have visited them in US on visits ad they are a treasure trove to me.

great looking workspace with a lot of fun things I can see I would like to play with! I would love to have big windows like that in my craft room! When I travel I take a glue stick, a pack of page protectors, a pack of paper and pens, tags, and assorted things (like a small stapler, a ruler) that fit in a zip bag that clips in the front of the 3" ring binder till it gets to full. I make up trash books...not smash and have been doing so for about 20 years. I keep bits and pieces of things new to me and buy postcards, etc and glue in the book as a memory book. In 2004 I went over seas for 9 weeks and made 4 of the books but they are a treasure to read through now. Have a great week. Vickie #41

Yep, I keep a travel journal but it has been nothing but writing until now. I have prepped some pages this time in readiness for a trip.
Lovely read on your blog and do I see some Ikea tins on the top right of your photo?

Hi Lulu, I tend to only have a written journal when I travel, not thought to paint etc as well. Love your space. Francesca #61

Such a nice orderly work space! No I don't keep a journal. My daughter and I used to when she was little. She was so funny - round about 11 or 12 - especially if she took a disliking to the places we visited - or "grot spots" as she called them in her journnal. It's good to see the world through the eyes of a child! x Jo

Well at least if you want to craft in the day, theses shelves allow you to let the daylight fall on your desk top. I don't journal...despite my massive amount of blather on the blog, I find journaling makes me very self conscious and it ends up feeling very contrived. Weird huh!

Love all that light pouring in those windows Lulu, really bright place to create. Nice to see it tidy too!! Strange how people's minds work, as I can't crochet to save my life, way too complicated, and to be truthful, I haven't long mastered simple knitting either! I just tend to jump right in and pick more technical things to do instead of just knitting squares!

Love the light pouring through the shelves! And since I'm going to be working away from home for several weeks soon, my mind has already turned to how to pack a small travelling stash... I'm thinking it'll have to be more than just one journal though, or the withdrawal might be too severe! Happy WOYWW!

Every time we go away I have good intentions of keeping a journal but I never do. I really should. I love the idea of using an old book to do it in. Maybe for our holiday next year!

Your area is so intriguing with so many nooks and crannys like a little cave :)
