'WOYWW - 12/22 - To Do Wreath'

by Mary Lou 'LuLu' Haynes

Howdy and Welcome,

Here are a bunch of little projects that need doing. Because I usually work on multiple projects, I'll make a post-it note for each to show what to do next.

  1. Embossed metal tape - to paint and sand
  2. a) Stencil - to texturize a collages with molding paste and gesso. b) postcard for an art contest to consider entering
  3. Homemade blending tools (round velcro dots on corks) for alcohol inks in repurposed alphabet stamps storage container - to find a 'home' until summer when I'll have ventilation
  4. Homemade stamps - to develop a tutorial on 'how to make your own stamps'
  5. a) original prototype mandala - to create shapes in Photoshop for drawing some digital mandalas. b) wrapping paper - to tear up for collages and store
  6. picture of barn - to paste on one of my art journal pages
  7. packing list for next scrapbooking crop - to put in my scrapbooking backpack
  8. flyer of Tim Holtz techniques - to read and try some new techniques
Sometimes my workspace seems to be more about organizing than about making art. It would be so nice to have more counter space so this workstation could be dedicated exclusively to creating  art - and organizing would be at a different station!

What about you? Is your workstation exclusively dedicated to creating art? Or does yours also get swamped with organizing projects?

I'd love to see your comments about this post - or any of my other posts. Meanwhile, Here are some more workstations for Whats On Your Workstation Wednesday?

'LIT List It Tuesday - 12/21 - Lefty Lexicon'

by Mary Lou 'LuLu' Haynes

Howdy and Welcome,

I'm right-handed, and this week I've listed a whopping 8 things that I do with my left hand. Hope to add more activities to my 'lefty lexicon' as I practice more using my left hand.

"LuLu's Lefty Lexicon"
Gel ink, watercolor, acrylic paint, acrylic glaze on scrapbook cardstock -
enhanced in MS Digital Image Editor

Have you ever tried to use your non-dominant hand to do stuff? What was the outcome? Would love to see your comments about this or any of my other posts.

Also, see more lists here at List It Tuesday.

LuLu

'LIT - List It Tuesday - 12/14: How to Distract Yourself in 758 Ways!'

by Mary Lou 'LuLu' Haynes

Howdy and Welcome,

For List IT Tuesday this week, I took inventory of most 'stuff' in our living room. It serves as the 'family room/media room/foyer/copy center/dining room/library/gym/art gallery'.

'How to Distract Yourself in 758 Ways'

We have 'zones' - I guess you would call them... Near the front door, we use a 6 ft. tall  Japanese shoji screen as a room divider to visually separate the 'foyer' from the main family room.

Shortly after we moved into our house, one of my antique pianos was even in the corner of this room - which also served as the music studio. But that baby grand took up almost half the room! Decided I didn't really need two pianos in the house! So I soon arranged to have it moved to the home of a friend who was searching for a piano. They have lot more space in their living room, and are taking quite good care of it.

Anyway, this room serves so many functions. Too many! I'm thinking that hubby and I need to do some purging and re-organizing for the new year. It's time to read my Feng Shui books and put them to good use!

Do you have a multi-function room in your residence - a room that's not your kitchen? How do you delineate the room functions? Would love to see your comments.

Meanwhile, here are some more lists for your List It Tuesday viewing pleasure.

Thanks for visiting - and please come back again soon.

LuLu

'6.5 lbs of stuff being lugged around in my bag!'

I must learn
to travel light -
yeah, right!

Actually I AM working on paring down most of this detritis. For example, do I really need to carry around stuff like my iPod charger when I go shopping or to PT?!

What's in your bag today? I would love to see your comments to this post - or to any of my other posts.

Thanks for visiting - and please come back again soon.

'WOYWW - 12/08'

by Mary Lou 'LuLu' Haynes

Howdy and Welcome,

I'm just back from the holiday potluck crop of my scrapbooking group last night, the Scrap-A-Holics of Chicagoland. So my workspace just has a few cleanup and organizing projects.

That's my dedicated 'PEACE' scrapbooking backpack in the foreground. The blue/black caddy on the right is an experiment. I'm going to try to use it for my purse contents - just move this back and forth between my purse and my backpack - instead of spending time repacking every time I change bags. I listed all the stuff I carry around - 100 items of detritus! We'll see how long this lasts - it's already too heavy...Would love to see your comments about this post.

It's a scrapbooking tool caddy from Totally Cool - bought it at Archivers with a discount coupon! You can find more desks here at WOYWW.

Thanks for stopping by and please come back soon!

'Fun with Furry Fringe'

by Mary Lou 'LuLu' Haynes

Howdy and welcome,

My sister and I are just back from a girl's road trip this weekend. We are SO funny! For a 1-night overgnight trip, to St. Charles/Geneva, IL we each brought 4 bags!!! Will we EVER learn how to pack light?!?!?      :-)

Meanwhile, here's a peek at a 'furry' fringe I made last week from lots of ribbons I bought at the recent Scrap Cabana retreat I attended - made by www.handdyedhobbies.com

These are lovely silk ribbons shot through with gold threads - so pretty! What do you think of this fringe on my art journal? Would love to see your comments about this post - or any of my posts.

Thanks for stopping by and come back soon!

'WOYWW 12-01: LuLu's WIPs'

by Mary Lou 'LuLu' Haynes

Howdy and welcome,
My workstation today ended up with a bunch of stuff to organize or create. Just various little projects that need attention.

'LuLu's WOYWW Dec 1, 2010
Works In Progress'
Clockwise, from top left:
  1. Two original background stamps made yesterday from: round hardware store sticker finds and foam puzzle stickers and  from foam letter stickers, both painted with gesso and sealed with matte medium adhered to empty VHS tape boxes
  2. Liquitex matte medium (my medium of choice)
  3. my concoction of matte medium mixed with white gesso (I love measuring and mixing wet supplies, glazes, paints, gessos, etc!) stored in a small plastic Rubbermaid container
  4. small leather purse I've never used. Because of it's shape and depth, I'm considering using it as a travel pencil case or travel paint box. It has a handle and a long strap.
  5. Four of my flash drives. I try to carry them around the house in my pants pocket, since I sprained my ankle. Can't run up and down the stairs like I used to do when I need to use files between the upstairs desktop PC and downstairs laptop.
  6. clear packaging from the iPod shuffle hubby gave last month me. I'm thinking about using it as a shadow box for some little art project.

Would love for you to comment on this post. when you have a moment or 2.

Many thanks for popping by - and please come back again soon.

Peace,
LuLu
