'WOYWW - 03/09/11 - Organizing after unpacking art journal supplies!'

by Mary Lou 'LuLu' Haynes

Howdy and welcome,

While I was organizing pens, pencils and markers after unpacking supplies from art journaling I did at the 2 day scrapbooking crop over the weekend, I realized that it's Wednesday! Time for WOYWW - What's on your workstation Wednesday...

Resists to be organized and consolidated:
Faber Castell Gel stix, watercolor crayons
(in an antique red tobacco tin I inherited - perfect size),
crayons, and colored pencils

I usually write illegible script, calligraphy or print quotes illegibly when I first start working on blank pages. Love the texture of handwriting, printing and calligraphy. Also I sometimes write and print after I lay down a layer or 2 of acrylic galzes on the page.

I prep journals all in a batch, usually. To me it makes sense to do all the resists while I have the resist supplies out. When I put the resist supplies away, and then  take out the messy glazing supplies and do messing glazing. I like to use old hotel or credit cards - per Dawn Sokol's Pages in Stages dvd.

Visit here for more desk look-sees!

Would love for you to comment on this post - or any of my other posts.
Thanks for stopping by and -
stay tuned for info about my 100th post giveaway - coming soon!

Peace,
LuLu

Is that a little match box car I can just see at the top. Loved them as a kid, wish I had them now, they might be worth a bit! I took a couple to school when I was eight, and the teacher took them away! and never let me have them back as, 'they couldn't possibly be mine as I was a girl. Teachers were mean then! Well your desk does look very busy. I'm still 'trying' with oil and crayons, but alas..the pictures still look very messy! and never to be seen on blogger! Have a great woyww week...I'm still going round last weeks!

Unpacking is no fun; kind of anti-climatic after a crop. But it looks like you must have had a good time.

Love that glassware on your desk. I enjoy using watercolour pencils - not so good with paintbrushes though.

Howdy Peggy,
Thanks for stopping by.

When I firs write on the blank pages of my journals, I like to use resists - like graphite pencils, colored pencils, waterproof pens and markers, wax (crayola type) crayons, glaze pens and waterproof gel pens.

To my eye, the script and/or printing makes the first bottom layer very textural. And gives the layers on top a lot more depth.

Please stay tuned for my giveaway coming soon!

Peace,
LuLu

Howdy Wipso,
Thanks for stopping by.

I don't feel so bad about showing my bag now - you should've seen it before it was organized!

Howdy Spyder,
Thanks for stopping by.

That little car is a Jaguar - a gift. My family and friends give me toy race cars when they come across them. I love Jaguar XKEs and the new Lamborghini Murcielago and the old DIablo! They take my breath away.

In high school I work fake fingernails and my chemistry teaher (a nun) told me I was 'eccentric' I went home and looked it up in the dictionary. Next day in front of the whole chemistry class I told her 'You're right. I AM eccentric!'

Been that way ever since...

Please come back again real soon - giveaway coming up.

Peace,
LuLu

I’ve always hated unpacking and putting away stuff. Not only craft stuff, it could even be a holiday suitcase but in my mind it’s on a par with putting away the ironing after it’s done…..I hate it!

Happy Crafting!
